SHORT VOWEL PHONICS 2

Short Vowel Phonics 2 is a 16 story series that contains short vowel words (v-c and c-v-c pattern) and some stories include short vowel words with consonant blends; six non-phonetic sight are used. Unless otherwise indicated, the featured vowel is used repetitively throughout the story. Stories have 6 to 14 sentences.  The reader will experience every consonant and every vowel except for vowel y. Each story has worksheets for additional phonics practice and evaluating comprehension. Library editions do not have worksheets.

Unit 5: short e

  • The Red Hen (37 words)

  • A Wren and a Sled (60 words -- with consonant blends and silent consonant "wr")

  • The Sick Hen (69 words -- with short a, i, o, u, and e words and words ending with "ck" and "nt")
